Why Do I Always Have to “Change?”
Change is on the horizon yet my heart is resistant; I am too busy and distracted. “More Change” right now is the last thing I feel like encountering. However, it’s the most needed. Why can’t I see it clearly? Distracted with life’s curveballs, children, family, business, and now the new demands of “social distancing”, I am tempted to hang onto all the ways I procrastinate and high level hide. The familiarity of those habits is comfortable and I like it. My mind spins. Excuses mount. Rebellion rises. Lies lurk. Stubbornness surmounts. FEAR ENGULFS! There is a thickness in the air of change and I must choose what is next for me. I can stay STUCK or I can push across the boundaries of my comfort, RISE UP, and trust the One leading me out.
It’s my choice!
Again, I can stay in my comfort zone and keep procrastinating or I can step out and release my grip.
And there it is, the internal nudge. In the midst of all the chaos, I feel the nudging. I must trust the calling to RISE. So I stop, wait, and listen; and there, in the stillness, His grace abounds. His love draws me out, and His light begins to penetrate the shattered fearful places of my heart illuminating the gold within me. His change for me is not to take away but to give. His change is an agent to usher me into more wholeness, freedom, and power. He sees the purpose of my pain and He knows it is time to shine!
Although change is hard, it’s the fear of change that often holds us captive. You see, when I began viewing change as “a new frontier” and as “an up-leveling” for my life, my perspective also changed. Fear then lost its grip and I began to unravel and rise.
HE CALLED ME OUT OF HIDING AND INTO EMBRACING THE REAL ME.
He knew I was powerful, brave, beautiful, and brilliant and it was time for me to know it and experience it in my life.
So as I have learned to trust and embrace “change”, it has led me on a beautiful journey back home to me.
